TEACHING FIDDLE :

• Sille is the only teacher of Estonian fiddle style and technique in Britain.
  Estonian fiddling employs specific bowing, ornamentation and rhythm of the melodies.
  
• She also teaches tunes, styles and what`s behind them from other part of the World such as:
  British Isles (particularly Wales), Scandinavia, Appalachian Old – Time.
  
• To understand and get a better feel about certain styles she uses several creative methods such as learning a melody by ear through singing, clapping, dancing, copying bowing patterns etc.
  
• To remember the melody and it`s character, students are welcome to record a tune.
  
• As well as developing technique and increasing confidence in fiddling, Sille emphasises the joy of making music in both individual and group lessons.

Sille has been teaching fiddle and bowed harp for several years at the Võru Rahvamuusika Laager summer school in Estonia and has also delivered workshops in Britain including Gower Folk Festival 2004 & 2005, Snowdon Fiddle Festival 2005 and at the Welsh Celtic Fiddle Workshop Weekend in Pembroke 2005, were she has been invited back to teach next year.

Sille is an expert on Estonian dances and an amazing dancer. She has danced at festivals throughout Scandinavia and Eastern Europe and has led countless dances and workshops in Estonia. Sille teaches and leads the dances and plays fiddle, Martin accompanies on melodeon.
